Our Goal
Our goal is to position ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD to ultimately move into local oil refining and as well diversify into the dry cargo sector of international trade considering the volume of dry cargo coming into Nigeria and the West African Coast.
Our Next Big Move
We are also moving into participating in the lifting of crude oil once the approval is given to indigenous shipping companies by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Dr. Smart Ogbonna
Dr. Smart Ogbonna is the Chairman/CEO of Rocket petroleum and energy resources Ltd.
An erudite Mechanical Engineer by profession. He worked at federal institute of industrial research oshodi (Fiiro) from 1987 to 1997 and voluntarily withdrew his services from the institute to pursue his passion in shipping, Oil and gas industry.
He founded Safic Shipping and Tankers Ltd in 2001 which deals in shipping and shipping logistics, providing shipping and technical services to the maritime industry both within and outside Nigeria.
He is a lover of perfection, hence his quest for more platform for enhanced robust platform to engage in the oil and gas industry led him to establishment of Rocket petroleum and energy resources Ltd in 2018.
He also founded WFW OIL AND GAS LTD in the same year 2018.
Soundly as the name implies, Rocket petroleum and energy resources Ltd is into oil and gas trading. We major on refined petroleum products such as Gas oil, EN590 10PPM, D2, JET A1, PMS, LPFO, DPK.
Our operation is not limited to oil and gas trading only, Rocket petroleum and energy resources Ltd is also involved in ship management, ship chartering services and other offshore shipping, oil and gas ,and maritime services including purchases and sales of oil tankers, oil rigs, oil barges, and other marine equipments.
Dr. smart Ogbonna is also involved in Philanthropic activities within Abia state, his state of origin and Nigeria as a whole.
As a result of his versatile experience and entrepreneurship, he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in business administration by triune biblical university USA in September 2024.
Also another honorary doctorate degree in petroleum and strategic management was awarded to him by HIGHSTONE GLOBAL UNIVERSITY TEXAS USA in October 2025.
With two honorary doctorate degrees from notable Universities in America and host of other certificates, from different institutions and organisations across the globe, Dr. smart Ogbonna is truly a man of the people.
He manages the activities of his various companies, namely, SAFIC SHIPPING AND TANKERS LTD, ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD, WFW OIL AND GAS LTD.
Dr. smart Ogbonna is the global Chairman/CEO of these companies that is making waves in the maritime industry within Nigeria, West coast of Africa and globally.

Our HSE Policy
ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD employees must perform their activities in accordance with this safety policy. Any activity which the employee believes cannot be carried out in accordance with this policy must be suspended and reported immediately to the Management.
ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD has a safety policy that its business will be organized, planned and executed in such a manner as to: Protect and promote the health of the work force as well as to conduct all activities in such a manner not to adversely affect the health of the employee.

Since the areas of operations of ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD are mostly in Lagos, Niger Delta (Port Harcourt and Warri) and other offshore location within and outside Nigerian territorial waters the company always regard the host communities as partners in progress and as indispensable factors as far as the company’s operations are concerned. This is because activities can only thrive where peace and unity co-exist.
ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD emphasis is placed on alcohol and drug control in consonance with our health and safety policy. It is an offence for any employee of ROCKET PETROLEUM AND ENERGY RESOURCES LTD and Partners in Nigeria to be under the influence of alcohol or in possession of or under the influence of any, non-prescription drug such as cocaine, amphetamine (speed), marijuana, hashish or other illegal drugs at our work place.
Being under the influence of performance enhancing drugs and alcohol contravenes the company’s policy and as such will constitute official misconduct which will immediately lead to the termination of employee’s appointment. The company shall not allow use, possession, exchange, distribution or sale of drugs/alcohol in the company’s premises/sites, onshore or offshore. Only qualified medical practitioners (Doctors/Nurses) are authorized to administer drugs to workers. Only approved list for First Aid is allowed at work place unless a Doctor or a Nurse is attached to the site. Record of administered drugs, to who and for what purpose including the date such drug was given is maintained as a company policy.
